What you need!

1/2 pound ground pork

2 cups Jicama (Singkamas) , julienned 14 oz

California Girl Hearts of palm (Ubob), julienned

2 cloves garlic, minced

4 stalks green onions, chopped

1/2 cup white onion, chopped

1 tbsp five spice powder

salt and ground black pepper to taste

25 pcs Lumpia or egg roll wrapper

3-4 Cups Canola oil

Ngo Hiong Batter

2 Cups cornstarch

1 1/2 cups water

1 tsp paprika

1 tsp chicken bouillon

Make it! Saute the garlic and white onions.

Add ground pork and cook for about 12 minutes.

Add Jicama and the Heart of palm.

Season with salt and ground black pepper to taste.

Sprinkle 5 spice powder.

Saute for 5 minutes.

Add the green onions.

Stir to combine.

Remove from heat and set aside to cool.

On a working board, Place 1 to 2 tbsp of filling in the center of the lumpia or egg roll wrapper, fold the sides and roll.
Set aside.

Make the Ngo Hiong batter

In a small mixing bowl , combine cornstarch and water.

Stir constantly with a whisk until well combined.

Season with paprika and chicken bouillon .

Heat 3 cups of cooking oil in a small frying pan.

Dip each lumpia in the batter and deep fry at medium to low heat until golden brown.

Serve warm with spiced vinegar or with your favorite dipping sauce.
